We are a family business and have been in operation since 1967. All of our properties are located in Beaufort, SC. We rent 2 & 3 bdrm houses within Forest Fields Subdivision, 1, 2, & 3 bdrm mobile homes in Taylor's Mobile Home Estates and a 2 bdrm duplex apartment in Port Royal.
J. B. is the grandfather of the family and purchased the mobile home park after retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1964. J.B. lives by two mottos that has shaped the way we do business... "We will be as good to you, as you allow us to be" & "We make everything around us as neat as man can possibly make it." Through J.B.'s mindset of dedication and consideration our properties are kept in pristine condition. We are saddened by the loss of the patriarch and matriarch of our family and the man that established and operated this family business for 51 years.

JB served a 24-year Naval career from a young age at 16 in 1941 to 1965 when he retired at 40 years old. JB purchased the mobile home park where he raised his family in a double decker 3 bedroom home, and founded Taylor's Mobile Home Estates, and upon future development created Forest Fields Subdivision.
Long known for his positive outlook on life and his hard work ethic, strong stature, never give up charisma and treat everyone as you want to be treated attitude, JB always took care of everyone around him.
Doris "Dot" is the grandmama and she is the glue of the family holding us together to keep us strong. Anytime a person is needing a friendly smile or a nice personality to sit down and talk with, Dot is more than happy to provide the caring behavior that molded us to be who we are individually and taught us to love and care and work together as a family.
Doris Jean Russom Gray Taylor, 89, of Beaufort, died at 2:30 PM, Monday, October 14, 2019 at Morningside of Beaufort. She was born October 31, 1929 in Selmer, TN, the daughter of a railroad gandy dancer turned small town farmer and persevering and strong natured mother. Dot married JB Taylor on September 24, 1956 and widowed on November 17, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Gray, father, Ives Russom, mother, Lessie Howell, second mother, Aline Williams, brother, Billy Preslar, son, Douglas Taylor, and grandson, Travis Odom. In hospice care for three months prior to her death, Dot died peacefully with her children beside her. She leaves her son, Tracy Jeffrey Taylor, with wife, Brenda Lee Taylor, two daughters, Linda Ann Barnard, with husband Charles Barnard, and Delores Jean Taylor, and her two sisters Violet Russom Joyner and Lela Joyner. She has 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 8 great great-grandchildren.
Dot was born into a farming family where she learned to survive on animals for subsistence and harvesting the crops for clothes and food. She picked cotton from a young age and would ride to the gin in a wagon with her daddy to get a nickel bag of popcorn. She came from a loving home where her parents openly displayed affection.
Married and widowed at a young age with a small child, Dot worked at a shoe factory when women were just starting to enter the workforce and even saved up enough to buy a genuine Model T car. After meeting JB, a young widowed serviceman with a young daughter, she became a mother of two, and moved to California and then to Charleston, where she bore and raised a son that had an untimely passing. Dot eventually called Beaufort home for over 60 years where she would bear a fourth child and she would diligently take care of their home and family while raising teenage daughters and a young active son.
Dot and JB would later purchase the lot they were renting and began a family rental business to begin a life with her husband getting out of the Navy and working alongside each other. She would work in the properties at night getting them ready for rent while still maintaining a razor sharp focus for all of her loved ones. She made her children know the love she grew up with and admirably loved her husband and family with a passion.
Dot enjoyed crochet, country music and cooking. Most of all, she enjoyed the happiness and laughter of her family and friends. Dot is the glue of the family and holds everyone together with support and encouragement. Long known for her gentle and kind spirit, ability to empathize with immense compassion, strong faith in God and inspirational conversations, Dot will be dearly missed by all that were blessed to have known her.
Jeff & Brenda are the dad and mom of the second generation. Jeff has lived and worked in the business since birth and handles all maintenance, improvement, and repair responsibilities. He has handled everything with his father from a young age and knows how the ditches need to be dug to provide the best storm water management to location of drain fields and how to replace them. In short, there is nothing in the business that Jeff doesn't know how to do or how to get it done.
Brenda, Jeff's wife, makes sure all things are taken care of within the office and rental properties. If there is anything that needs to be done she makes sure it gets prioritized and delegated to be completed in the quickest manner! Since first coming into the business, Brenda set the cleaning expectation to the maximum and requires our cleaning team to pull out all appliances to clean behind them and make sure any grit, grime or grease is completely removed from all surfaces. The more commonly overlooked cleaning areas like window frames are made sure to be free from all dirt by our cleaning team! Brenda works in the office and handles all managerial duties.
The third generation of the business is Jeff & Brenda's children, David and Jennifer. David is the property maintenance, renovation and repair technician and assists in any and all functions of the repair and upkeep of property. He makes sure the yards are mowed, weed-eated and homes are power washed. He is also the head renovator, in charge of removing and installing walls, cabinets, counters, flooring, etc. He is responsible for making sure the home looks brand new before a person moves in and remodels them, along with having new full paint throughout the home.
Jennifer is the office administrator and assists in renting, showing, and collecting payments. With an Associate degree as a Paralegal and Bachelor degree in Business and Human Services, she is able to work with an interdisciplinary mindset to help when you need it. Through referrals to human service agencies, she can assist the neighbor in obtaining rent assistance, when needed as well.
Sheri has been the head cleaner for many years. She has responsibility for the homes being in such pristine, clean condition to be ready before a new tenant occupies the residence. The standards of cleaning are exceptionally high with every appliance being pulled out and every nook and crevice thoroughly scrubbed without a speck of dust!
We are a family business and every person is here to help make your move in process easy and your time staying with us peaceful!
